Francesca Schiavone Wins Over Lourdes Dominguez Lino in the Final of Marrakech Grand Prix

In nearly a year, Francesca Schiavone of Italy absent from any title. However, her final match in Marrakech Grand Prix changed her luck. She won over Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain in two sets with 6-1 and 6-3. The former French Open winner in 2010 had her first title over almost a year and it means her current rank topped to number 48 from 50. It seems the Italian needs to work really harder to get another title in another tournament this year. Her failure to pass quarterfinals of WTA tournament is one of examples of her hardship. She got her last title last May in the Strasbourg Open. It is fortunate for her, she succeeded in dominating Moroccan clay on Sunday this year and got her 6th title.
Schiavone easily handled her opponent, Dominguez Lino, in the first and second set during the Sunday’s match. She commented that her week in Marrakech is a very good week after her harsh period. She added that she got two hard matches during the Marrakech Grand Prix. The first one was when she faced a young and very talented tennis player from Croatia, Petra Martic, and the second one was her final against the Spaniard. Even though she succeeded in dominating the final’s court over Dominguez Lino, she admitted that the Spaniard is always a tough opponent. Courtesy of her stability and complete game for over 90 minutes of the match, Schiavone won her first trophy for the first time in 2013.
It is reported that currently, Dominguez Lino is in number 59 in the world. Even though the Spaniard had a great chance to get the point during the final match, she had to admit that the Marrakech Grand Prix’s trophy belongs to Schiavone who crushed her hope in winning the match. Schiavone’s victory against Dominguez Lino in the tournament becomes her first start to work on her hardship and keep her to work hard for the rest of court seasons.
